Pets and service dogs are allowed, and owners must adhere to city leash ordinances. Vendors will be set up on-site, and everyone is encouraged to visit Inner Rail and Aksarben Village businesses before and after the event.Īwards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female runners in each of the following age divisions for the timed 5-mile and timed 5-K events: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.įor those signing up for the virtual option, we encourage you to complete your registered distance on March 4 in your neighborhood, on local trails, or from your home or gym treadmill! (No awards given to virtual participants.)
The timed events will begin at 9 a.m., and the untimed event will start at 9:05 a.m. Participants will gather at Zone 6 in Aksarben Village to run, walk and raise awareness for those in need of assistance in our community. All money raised is distributed through this local network. However, utility assistance is a year-round need.įunds raised are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3), and then split between M.U.D.’s Home Fund and OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program to assist our customers living in Burt, Cass, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders, and Washington counties. The event is hosted in the cold winter months to bring attention to those who struggle to keep the lights on and heat their homes.
Since 2007, Metropolitan Utilities District and Omaha Public Power District have teamed up to host this annual event, with proceeds benefiting local utility assistance programs to help friends, family, and neighbors in our communities pay their utility bills. If you can't make it in person, you can still sign up to participate virtually in the run/walk! Join us at Zone 6 in Aksarben Village on Saturday, March 4, 2023, to participate in a timed 5-mile run, a timed 5K run, or an untimed run/walk. *Register by Sunday at midnight the weekend BEFORE the race to be guaranteed a shirt!
